The Initial Value Problem in an RLC Circuit
Gennaio 13th, 2025 | by Marcello Colozzo |In a series RLC circuit supplied by a time-varying voltage, to solve the appropriate initial value problem for the initial electric charge (at t=0) and the value at that instant of the first derivative, hence of the current i(0)=0. The well-known electromechanical analogies suggest that we can assume an arbitrary value of the initial current i(0). While this is possible in the mechanical case (initial velocity of the particle, which can be arbitrary), it is not in the electrical case. Let's see why by reading the PDF article.
